RESENSATION - SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Following a breast cancer diagnosis, navigating the impact of losing one or both breasts can be overwhelming, and many women opt for reconstructive surgery. However, what many may not realize is that post-reconstruction, women can experience partial to complete numbness in their chest.
Resensation, or breast neurotization, is a surgical technique that aims to restore sensation to the breast as part of the reconstruction process. This gives women the potential to not only regain their appearance but also the ability to feel more like themselves again.

Despite advancements in care, the Eastern Region faces the highest breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in the country, with many women being diagnosed at late stages. This highlights the urgent need for better education, access to care, and the use of modern technology.
Many women are not offered the advanced diagnostic and treatment tools available, and even in affluent areas, about 80% are unaware of key treatment options. For the underinsured, access is even more limited, with some unable to afford basic screening tests.
